What to Know About Kırklareli
The city, which has many ancient cities, draws attention with its prehistoric location. The city, which was thought to have been under water during the Ice Age, survived the flood and continued its existence. It was invaded by Roman and Byzantine many times and joined the Ottoman lands by Murat I in 1363. Later, during the First World War and the Balkan Wars, it was also invaded by the Greeks and Bulgarians. The city, which had difficulties during these invasions, gained its freedom on November 10, 1922.
The city, which has come under the rule of many states, has received immigration from Bulgaria and Greece. There are many immigrants in the city where Bosnians and Albanians migrated along with Bulgarians and Greeks.
Two climates dominate the city, namely the Black Sea climate and the continental climate. While the Black Sea climate prevails on the coasts to the north of the Istranca Mountains in the region, the continental climate is observed in the south of the Istranca Mountains. On the coast, summers are cool and winters are warm. Where the continental climate dominates, winters are cold and rainy, while summers are dry and hot.
Average annual precipitation is around 570 mm. Since the majority of the region is covered with forests and heaths, it is considered very rich in terms of forestry and vegetation. Forests contain many types of trees.
