What to Know About Nevşehir

The historical name of Nevşehir province is Muskara, which means "brown" in Arabic. The use of Nevşehir as a settlement dates back to 6500 BC. The oldest settlement is seen around Civelek Cave in Gülşehir District. Many remains, especially from the Old Bronze Age, have been identified in the numerous mounds around Nevşehir.
