What to Know About Steyr

Steyr on the border between Upper Austria and Lower Austria is the small, but economically, historically, and culturally prominent, partly even world-famous town of Steyr, whose name has spread to an entire province, the former duchy and is notable for being housed in one of its main squares Franz Schubert the "prince of songs" repeatedly - this town Steyr deserves the interest of Esperanto speakers all the more since the first known Austrian Esperantist appeared there in 1895, and acted there for a long time, always lively, competent An Esperanto group, which is why Steyr is the cradle of the Esperanto movement in Austria.

Steyr is located at the confluence of two rivers, the wider of which is called "Enns", the less wide "Steyr", so as is the town itself. The oldest quarter is located in the rather sharp corner formed by the confluent rivers. There also rises a hill crowned by a baroque count's palace, which replaces the former medieval town castle.
