Gowa is a regency located in the southern part of South Sulawesi province, Indonesia. Situated just southeast of Makassar, the provincial capital, Gowa occupies a strategic position in the southwestern peninsula of Sulawesi island. The regency covers an area of approximately 1,883 square kilometers and has a population of around 750,000 people according to recent estimates.
