If you are filling out a Cabo Verde address, use a 4-digit postal code when you have it. The code normally goes before the locality name, so the format is more like 7600 Praia, not Praia 7600. Do not use a random five-digit ZIP code, because Cabo Verde’s system is shorter and tied to islands, municipalities, post offices, and delivery classes.

A realistic Praia address would look like this: Rua 5 de Julho 138, Platô, C.P. 38, 7600 Praia, Santiago, Cabo Verde. For central Praia, 7600 is the code people most often run into. But that does not mean every address on Santiago Island should use 7600. Other towns, islands, or post office areas can have different codes, even if the address still looks simple.

A soft way to read the codes is this: Praia addresses often use 7600, Mindelo addresses are commonly seen with 2110 or older-looking 7310 references depending on the source, and Santa Maria on Sal may appear with its own local code. This is practical guidance, not an official street-by-street map. The exact locality, island, and post office details should win over guessing.

The UPU addressing guide for Cabo Verde shows a 4-digit postcode placed to the left of the locality name, with an example like “7600 Praia,” and Correios de Cabo Verde also says address details should include the postal code, city, island, country, and contact information.

So if you only know “Cabo Verde,” do not type 7600 automatically. Use 7600 when the address is really in Praia, especially central Praia. For outer areas, smaller towns, resorts, or another island, check the locality first and keep the island name visible. That small island line can prevent a lot of confusion.
